The 24 Hours of Le Mans is the most famous race in the motor racing world. In 2012, the American National Geographic Society named the race as the world’s number 1 sporting event. Created in 1923 and organised by the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO), the race is an endurance event, with the winner being the car that completes the most laps over the 24 hours.
From a television point of view, the 24 Hours of Le Mans is the car race that attracts the most live viewers, with an average of 113 million viewers over the duration of the race.
In 2022, the event was televised in 196 countries, with 107 cameras installed. On the social networks, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok, a total of 98 million impressions were generated in 2022.
From an economic point of view, the event generates an estimated 72 million euros in economic activity over the year and almost 2,500 direct or indirect jobs for the département.
The event represents a significant showcase for French companies, enabling them to highlight their expertise in the sports events sector.
